Mercedes-Benz Shocks Spectators with Electric Intelligence Concept Car, Dubbed EQ, at 2017 GIMS

The automaker is calling Electric Intelligence "a range of vehicles and mobility solutions" to "transform the way we drive and power our cars," and if EQ's showing at the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show is any indication, Mercedes-Benz promises to pioneer a new driving experience entirely.

From the sporty SUV's blue-hued EQ-exclusive Light Signature ambiance and striking black hood, showing off a Black Panel LED optical fiber-illuminated front grille, inside, to its rose gold highlights, "floating" ergonomic, 24-inch TFT wide-screen display, intuitive touch-screen interfaces and self-adjusting, activity-driven ambient lighting, EQ makes quite the style statement. And the curio appears powered fascinatingly to match, via two electric motors ensconced in a powerful electric drive system with scalable battery components, showcasing a total output capability of up to 300 kW (402 horsepower) and enabling EQ to reach speeds of up to 60 mph in as little as five seconds. Take heart for going the distance: EQ offers a long-haul, more-than-300-mile range per charge, and it's set to allow convenient battery regeneration at emerging public charge stations, using a compatible at-home outlet, or via a wireless induction charger. Likewise, it'll be DC fast-charging capable, having a combined charging system standard, each for ease of use.

EQ offers prospects for smarts to match capability, too, with Intelligent Driver Assistance, 3D real-time map display from HERE, and Car-to-X technology to enable information exchange between EQ and compatible infrastructure and vehicles, all coming together to take you places with peace of mind.

We can surely imagine traversing the Franklin and Murfreesboro areas in one of these travelers. Until EQ releases, however, you're welcome to await it with us here at Mercedes-Benz of Nashville. Stop in and take a test drive in one of our expansive lineup of new 2016 and 2017 Mercedes-Benz cabriolet, coupe, roadster, sedan, SUV, van or wagon models to see for yourself what the future may hold for your road trips and day trips alike.
