2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class vs 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
Proudly Serving Franklin, TN
The C-Class and the E-Class have been the two most popular rides offered by Mercedes-Benz for several decades. Debuting in the 1990s, they are the automaker’s compact and mid-size passenger cars; and, as a result, some of its most affordable vehicles. Couple that with keen attention to overall premium refinement, and it’s no surprise that both rides are still best-sellers almost three decades into their existence.
Performance
Typically, the 2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class and E-Class are powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline 4-cylinder (I4) engine, which produces 241 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque and harnessed to a 9-speed automatic transmission. The 9-speed includes four driving modes (Eco, Comfort, Sport, and Sport+) for adjusting steering, throttle, and shift points. On the E-Class, though, you have the choice of graduating to a 3.0-liter bi-turbo V6 that produces 329 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque. On the C-Class, you will have to go with one of the higher-performance-oriented AMG® models—the C 43—to get that. The other two C-Class AMG® models are the C 63, which has a bi-turbo 4.0-liter V8 with 469 horsepower and a 7-speed automatic gearbox; and the C 63 S, which has the same engine tuned to 503 horsepower while retaining the 7-speed. The E-Class has two AMG models: the E 43, which is powered by a 3.0-liter bi-turbo V6 with 396 horsepower; and the E 63 S, which has the same engine as the C 63, albeit with 603 horsepower and a 0-60 mph time of 3.3 seconds.
Appearance
Both the 2018 C-Class and the E-Class are sleekly styled, with smooth profile lines and contoured metal. With either nameplate, you can go with a coupe body style if you desire a sportier, more individualized version; a convertible (Cabriolet) for even more sportiness and individuality; or a traditional four-door sedan if you want something more practical. And if you choose the E-Class, you will have a fourth option: a station wagon. With more overall interior space, this option will optimize your passenger and cargo room.
Features
With the sedan carrying five people, the wagon seating up to seven, and the other body styles accommodating up to four, the 2018 Mercedes-Benz C-Class and E-Class are loaded even on the base level. Power adjustability with driver-seat memory, high-grade synthetic leather, and natural grain ash are standard for their cabin and seating features. Other standard features include a power sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless start, garage-door opener, Bluetooth®** hands-free and audio-streaming system, and two USB ports for connecting mobile devices. On the E-Class, you will get bonuses such as a 12.3-inch COMAND® infotainment system (a 7-inch is on the C-Class), a Wi-Fi hotspot, and Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™ for smartphone-based control of infotainment features. For safety, both cars start off with features such as forward collision warning with brake assist, crosswind assist, a rearview camera, driver drowsiness monitoring, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and Mercedes PRESAFE® for preparing the vehicle by closing windows and tightening seat belts when it senses an impending collision.
