2022 Mercedes-Benz S-Class vs 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class

Serving Franklin, TN

Mercedes-Benz debuted the seventh generation of its prestigious S-Class sedan in 2021. The generational improvements at that time were stunning, but the respected automaker has not sat on its laurels. The S-Class has continued to evolve with a few thoughtful updates to the 2022 model year through its continued focus. Our associates at Mercedes-Benz of Nashville are dedicated to the essential goal of helping each of our customers find their perfect sedan, and we are enthusiastic about supporting your comparison of the 2021 and 2022 S-Class sedans.

Performance

The S-Class, a full-size luxury sedan that stands in a league of its own, boasts an exciting improvement behind the wheel for the 2022 model year. Mercedes-Benz has innovated the adaptive e-Active Body Control suspension system, which is now available optionally across the S-Class’s full trim line for 2022. The powertrains remain unchanged. The S-Class receives 429 horsepower from its turbo 3.0-liter, inline-six engine in the introductory trim level. The higher-level powertrain is a 496-horsepower, turbo 4.0-liter V8 system. This powertrain is also associated with rear-wheel steering to enhance turning capabilities. A nine-speed auto transmission and 4MATIC® all-wheel drive are standard for 2021 and 2022 across the full trim lineup.

Appearance

Several fresh options are available in 2022 for the S-Class’s exterior paint colors. The exterior styling, however, holds steady. The decadent profile continues to have an aerodynamic flow. The S-Class’s elegance is magnified by metallic accents across the sides and smooth contouring that flows linearly down the side doors. At the front of the S-Class, the chrome-adorned grille has a wing-like quality. Its horizontal accent bars stand in beautiful contrast to the sharp angle of the LED headlamps. Below the headlamps, large air intake vents are dressed up with metallic accents to complete the S-Class’s regal façade.

Features

The S-Class has an impressive selection of features across its trims, and these features are unchanged between the 2021 and 2022 model years. The base-level features include:

  • Smart device app connectivity
  • A wireless charging pad
  • A navigation system with augmented reality
  • Leather seating
  • A dual-zone climate system with a fragrance atomizer
  • Soft-close doors
  • A 12.8-inch OLED display screen
  • A 12.3-inch digital instrumentation gauge

The top trim builds on these features with heated and massaging seats in the rear, a rear wireless charging pad, a rear control panel, and rear neck heaters. All S-Class sedans have an extensive range of assistive driver’s technologies.
